Alternative Accommodations
While short-term rentals are technically illegal in NYC, there are families that rent separate units under their homes (which is legal). Below are links to some examples in Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods.
We have no association with these rentals nor have we vetted the properties. These are meant to give you an idea.
Getting around Brooklyn
All events are in Park Slope and walking distance (or a short ride, if preferred) from one another.
The only exception is the Saturday night party at the Carreau Club in Industry City which is an easy 20 minute subway ride, a 10 minute car ride, or a 45 minute walk.

Attire
Our community is quite informal. Please wear what you will be comfortable and have fun in! Following are some general ideas:
Friday, Kabbalat Shabbat & Dinner - Smart casual, think camp-style Shabbat, no suits/ties
Saturday morning, Bat Mitzvah Service & Lunch - Smart casual, no suits or ties necessary
Saturday night, Party - Ella requests sparkles and dancing shoes!
Sunday morning, Brunch - Whatever you love to wear to eat bagels!

Local
Recommendations
The main commercial streets in Park Slope are 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue where you will find restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, bodegas (corner stores), and much more.
Here are some of our favorite places. We hope you have fun exploring!

Shavuot in Brooklyn
Shavuot starts the evening of Thursday, May 21, and is an amazing holiday to celebrate in Brooklyn! If you are considering extending your trip to celebrate Shavuot in Brooklyn, we're excited to have you!
Each year more than 16 synagogues, independent minyans, and Jewish institutions spanning the full Jewish rainbow of denominations and affiliations come together for an all-night festival held at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope (274 Garfield Place). The evening starts with prayer services and continues with learning sessions led by a range of local community members until 4:30 a.m. before a sunrise service to end the night. Attendance is free.
Detailed information is coming soon, but see here the program from 2025/5785
